First Wetland Working Bee a success!

Our first ever Wetland Working Bee was a great success, with volunteers from all over Auckland and of all ages (the youngest being little six month old Dylan) stomping through the mud and giving our totara, rimu, kahikatea, kanuka, miro, puriri, kowhai, karaka, cabbage trees, putaputaweta, manuka, mahoe, karamu, lancewood, lacebark, fivefinger, mapou, wineberry and flaxes the best possible start in their new home!

As usual the food was splendid as well, thanks to the many volunteers, some who even came especially to bring us lunch… Our supervisor enjoyed us disturbing the soil, fluttering around as only a piwakawaka or fantail can, catching the insects we disturbed with our work.

Even the sun joined us and the morning sweaters and jackets were soon shed away and some  volunteers might even have left us with slightly red nose or neck!

Join us next time if  you’re able, or come to one of our other events. See you out there!
