Over 40 people working far too hard…

On a sunny but muddy Sunday in August, volunteers from all over Auckland came to our second wetland planting day. And planting they did! In total more than 1000 plants, shurbs, trees, grasses, ferns and flaxes found a new home to shape our future nature reserve. The crew from Borderless filmed some of it for their promo clip for The Trusts, who gave us $85,000 through their Million Dollar Mission campaign. Some volunteers were six, others were six years in retirement, but all had fun and a feast awaited at lunchtime, with home made soup, breads, scones and baking brought by all involved.

A special thank you to Jacqui Geux for the pictures, Drew for his tractor and the Waitakere Rivercare volunteers for their plants.

We hope to see all of you on the next working bee, our usual Third Sunday of the month, this time on the 17th of September!
