Auckland Zoo have been great supporters of our projects: they help with surveying Kokako at Ark in the Park and now they help Matuku Link with base line monitoring and the installation of the first of many bait stations. Sian Buley, Pest Control Coordinator at Auckland Zoo, introduced three colleagues from Samoa to the New Zealand bush at Matuku Link in Bethells. Steep gullies, slippery slopes and knee deep mud were all overcome while following the recently installed bait line. All the hard work was rewarded with beautiful views, great weather and the discovery of some large Tairari, which are relatively uncommon in the Waitakere Ranges.
