Calling all volunteers who want to help building our nursery!
Join Waitakere Rivercare and Matuku Link volunteers to celebrate the first day of Conservation Week on 14th October, from 10 am (open ended)
It will be a very varied working bee, mostly working on the new nursery so we especially need people with some building experience (it won’t be high tech!!) or able to do some heavy lifting/wheelbarrowing. A high priority will be getting the potting bench and shade house underway. We also hope to move stuff so some muscular support would be good, and will be other activities like de-nailing recycled planks. If there are any specific queries on this, please email a reply or leave a message on 810 9540. It is critical we have the new nursery functioning asap to build up a supply of plants for next year, so please help wherever you can.
Please bring a hammer etc – or spade, gloves, gumboots, plus something to add to our shared lunch if you can. Tea, coffee, and some sustenance will be provided.
At Matuku Link, 111 Bethells Rd – almost opposite Bethells Valley Fire Station – take care turning into the driveway. Ample parking available.
See you on Saturday 14th October!
Note – it won’t all require strong muscles: the last of our plants are desperate to get put in the ground and some plants need staking so we can still find them after the spring grass growth takes over.
