WAITĀKERE’S WEST COASTERS by Mary Woodward
In 2018 at age 90 Mary (Bobbie) Woodward self-published her memoir, Shimmersea, swearing it would be her last book. But more recently she was persuaded to publish a manuscript, written over 30 years ago, on the stories of Waitākere’s west coasters.
Waitākere’s west coasters has been updated with generous help from other Waitākere notables. Paradigm’s John Ringer, who has worked on Bobbie’s previous books, did the photo research, designed and produced this final book. It is a testament to Bobbie’s creativity and determination, and provides a significant bookend to her writing career.
John Ringer, a long term volunteer at Matuku Link, has pledged all profits of this book to our wetland conservation work.
