Arrive at Whatipu and marvel how such a remote area is so close to Auckland. And it is under threat! Tabacco Weed (Woolly Nightshade) is invading the forest and wetland. Join our Woolly War for a weekend (or day) to help the Friends of Whatipu restore this beautiful area and prepare it for the future release of pateke – native brown teal.

Tools will be provided for a couple of hours “scrape and paint” of the Woolly Nightshade, followed by a guided walk at this usually closed Scientific Reserve. Option to stay at Whatipu Lodge or Campground and hear about the history of the place in the evening or to listen to the evening chorus. Do some more woollies next day or return home.

We need you for a weekend of shared sweat and fun in great company!
