Jobs for Nature are established by the government, through the Department of Conservation, to help the environment as well as help people in a job who are currently unemployed or underemployed. Matuku Link’s proposal was part of the Sustainable Business Network nationwide bid, and was successful in securing three jobs for around ten weeks.
We have three roles for practical, enthusiastic people who like physical work in the outdoors and want to help conservation in New Zealand. You will be working at Matuku Link doing physical work outside, for instance constructing a boardwalk, building the accessibility trail, build bird hide foundations and work on several other construction/building/renovation projects. One person could be the foreman (male/female).
We require a good level of fitness, enthusiasm and are available from Mid October 2020 for 8 to 12 weeks, 32 hours per week on average. The period could be extended when funding allows.
We would love to hear from you if you:
- are unemployed at the start of the contract period
- have that ‘willing to go the extra mile’, ‘can do’ attitude
- are physically fit and enjoy a physical role
- have the practical know-how to make something out of nothing
- can work in a small team and have a positive problem-solving attitude
- Are available for 8 to 12 weeks from end of September
Building, DYI and carpentry skills are beneficial.
We offer a positive work environment and an attractive remuneration – especially if an applicant could work as a foreman (m/v) of this team of three.
