A wonderful wetland present
Of course we said “yes” when local artist Celia Steenhuisen approached us with the offer to create unique artworks for us based on photographs by supporter Imogen Warren and our very own volunteer Stefan Marks – and we are over the moon with the result! You’ll need a magnifying glass to appreciate the detail in the pencil drawings – every feather on the Pateke and every scale on the legs of the Matuku. These two endangered wetland birds are very special to us and with your support we can do even more to protect them in our wetland, as all profits are going towards Matuku Link.
The two original 105 x 148 mm drawings, made with a 0.03 mm pigment ink pen on acid free paper, come framed with a passe-partout in a 100% wooden frame as per the photograph. They are $500 incl gst per drawing, but they’ll also look great next to each other on your wall.
To give a few more people the opportunity to enjoy these amazing drawings, we are making a limited edition of five, numbered prints. Double the original size at 148 x 210 mm, at half the price: $250 each and both for $400. Prints by renowned art print studio The Digital Darkroom.
- All are signed and authenticated by the artist, prints are numbered one to five.
- Outside edge of frame sizes:
- Originals: 277 x 226 mm
- Prints: 325 x 275 mm or 374 x 300 mm
Artist Celia Steenhuisen (https://celiasteenhuisen.com/) was born and raised on the foothills of the Waitakere Ranges, from Dutch/Kiwi descent, her work is held in private collections around the world. She works intensely bringing details into a tiny space and then enlarging the drawing in print to accentuate the miniscule strokes. Her favorite place to recharge is the forest and she supports her family’s effort in the conservation of the Waitakere Ranges zone and reforestation of family land.
Final product proportions and signatures will vary slightly from photograph. For viewings please contact Celia on 021 208 9083 to arrange a time or buy them in our online shop here. Contact Annalily at Matuku Link for other questions, 0212207136 or hello@matukulink.org.nz
