Thanks to the team at Auckland Zoo, we now have some great drone footage of the willows in the river and our wetland. This does not only guide us to where they are so we can get rid of them (as willows are a pest plant, a weed smothering our native plants and clogging up the river), but also to see if our control has worked yet. And yes, it has!

It is also invaluable for next year: going back to the same spots to check if there are any remaining willows.

The willow work isn’t for the faint hearted, but our Jobs 4 Nature team, funded through a bid by the Sustainable Business Network, are doing a great job – and having some fun while at it.
